School Dress Code

A safe and disciplined learning environment is a prerequisite for a good school. If the level, of violence in schools increases, most teachers, parents and other staff of school came to seek the answer to reduce discipline problems and improve school safety are school uniforms. It can be beneficial because uniforms enhance the learning environment and discipline in schools, which includes the following benefits (Hui 1999):

1.Decrease in violence and theft among students over designer clothing or expensive sneakers;

2.Help in the prevention of gang members from wearing gang colors;

3.Help parents and students resist peer pressure;

4.Help school officials recognize intruders who come to the school.

To improve safety and discipline in the school, many local school are now adopting the dress code policy as part of the program.

Thinking about school violence involves defining its causes, limits and directions. A study conducted in the field of CONICET, which are defined as violent "situations, events or people expressing impertinent behavior considered manifestations of obscene jokes, marked violation of dress codes, serious fights between individuals or groups, acts of vandalism involving destruction or damage of items in the institution and theft." At school, aggressive behavior may be related to affective variables and family relationship, such as parental rejection, punishment, aggressive and lack of identification with the parents. Some victims grow in the belief that the use of aggression is the best way to get what they want. Having been victimized in childhood is conducive to adult victimizes others. Feelings on school uniform policy vary by region as revealed in the featured poll. This is why some regions have adopted uniform policies, however, over half of the public schools in the United States have adopted a dress code policy as shown in the following figure (Leskanic 2009):

In addition to that, children of different age groups vary on their opinions of school uniforms and clothing competitiveness as shown below (Simpson 2010):

Among adults, those who favor uniforms suggest that if a policy were enacted, there would be fewer distractions in school among social classes.

Conclusion

The ongoing debate over school uniforms still persists in American society today. Like any issue, some are for it and some against it. Those who advocate uniforms suggest that it will create a well-disciplined school atmosphere.

It is claimed that uniforms are more cost effective than buying general apparel. Reports confirm that school uniforms decrease peer rivalry and bullying over fashion clothing.

Standards and Accountability

The assessment for the student to improve his or her performance is quite necessary in an academic setting. The student should realize that how important is the concept of change for the personal and professional life. It is like a reality check that the outside world is a lot different to what the person might think is going to be. The self-assessments are an eye opener for students in some areas.
