BBC: Five Minutes With: Jamie Oliver

Transcription refers to the systematic presentation of spoken language into text form. Source of transcription could be speech of in the form of text that exists in different language. It is to mention here that transcription must not be mixed up with the concept of translation. Translation is referred to the meaning of source language into different language or target language (Cameron, 2001, pp. 31-45). This paper includes the transcription and analysis of spoken language of any program. The program should include conversation that includes more than one person. For this two person talk show was selected and analysed. Name of the show is Five minutes with: Jamie Oliver that is broadcasted on BBC.

Matthew Stadlen is an English television presenter and producer for the BBC. He also presents the interview series BBC Five Minutes. In this extract he has interviewed James Trevor "Jamie" Oliver who is a British chef, restaurateur, media personality, known for his food-focused television shows, cookbooks and more recently his campaign against the use of processed foods in national schools...

In this extract Chef Jamie Oliver talks to Matthew Stadlen about changing people's eating habits, keeping in touch with all his different business interests, dealing with criticism, how fame has not changed him, and why he would eat chips for breakfast (Cameron, 2001, pp. 31-45).

M I think this might be something like the one hundredth and ninety sixth

J Yeah so you've been a bit nervous today I am going to mark out of ten to put a bit of more pressure

M You are arguably the most famous person I have ever interviewed

J That's quite a bad show really after hundred and twenty you might need to up the quality of your guest

M A hundred and ninety they might strip me seventy of them right are you ready to go

J I am ready to go my friend

M Here we go would you count down five four three two one

J Oh you are putting the battery

M Yeah

J Right we've only got three minutes left
