Introduction

The purpose of writing this paper is basically to give the readers an understanding of the environmental problems faced by the soviet successor states that whether the environmental problems faced by the soviet successor states is the result of the 'Soviet Follies' or the global trend leading those states towards the environmental disaster. However, the author tried to present as much relevant information regarding the soviet successor states regarding the environmental problems. However, in analysing the available data, it was really difficult to come a firm conclusion whether who is responsible because in some states soviet policies lead to the environmental problems, whereas in some states, the local government policies were the reason behind the environmental disaster. Therefore, after critically analysing the whole situation, the author came to the point that the global trends and the local government policies were behind the environment calamity.

Similarly, by going through the paper, the readers will get enough idea what actually happened in the past, which lead to the current state of the soviet successor states.

Uzbekistan

Despite the natural wealth and variety of terrain, the decades of domination by the Soviet Union and its economic policy, Uzbekistan has made ??one of the countries with the worst environment environmental condition in the region. One could say that the Russia has its role in polluting the Uzbek environment but the global trends toward the environmental pollution also lead the Uzbek environment towards the disaster and the other reason might be the wrong and false polices by the government in protecting the environment. In the following paragraphs, the reasons and the circumstances discussed that will give the readers a better understanding whether soviet follies are the reason behind the environmental problem or it's the broader global trend.

The widespread use of agrochemicals, diversion of water from the two major rivers to irrigate farmland, and the chronic lack of water treatment plants, are among the factors that cause environmental and health scale (Index Mundi, 2012).

Environmental Devastation
