Abstract

This study is intended to evaluate the current situation for in-service training provided for head teachers in Oman. The aims of the study are: to highlight the issues that need addressing in the head teachers in service training, To survey the literature about in-service training in order to discover the underlying philosophy of in-service training, its gurus, its development and its tools and techniques, to examine the feasibility of in-service training and finally propose acceptable and applicable recommendations for developing in-service training for head teachers in Oman.

First of all, seven research questions are identified and then research methodology is selected in order to tackle the research questions. A questionnaire and interviews are suggested as research instrument. The study will be undertaken in BatinahSouth Educational Directorateand the schools under its supervision. Finally the research is intended to conclude with some recommendations for improving the in-service training for head teachers in Oman.
