CHAPTER 3: INTRODUCTION

Introduction

In order to conduct a valid and accredited research, there is a need to adopt effective research methodology. This has helped the study to develop reasoned and valid methods of research (Burns, 2007). In this research, the chapter of methodology has included research strategy, adopted to carry out the research and the approach towards the study that is based on the case study method. The research method is through the hybrid fact findings, or mixed method in nature and therefore has used both the primary and the secondary data of the research. Further the process of data collection is also being explained in this chapter. For the purpose of any research, the reliability and the validity of the research are important actors and therefore are explained in this study. It covers the ethical considerations and the sampling frame of the study as well. The samples used in the study are the worker and the mangers involved in the process of event management in Manchester United Football Club and Manchester Arena. The methodology has helped the investigator to develop a deep understanding of the facts in the study.

Research Strategy

The research strategy helped to identify the research plan and the idea in order to conceptualize the research methodology. As explained by Saunders et al, (2007), the strategy of the research strengthens the foundation plan of the study. The methodology for this research is based on the triangulation of the data followed by the case studies. The triangulation of the data is dependent on the factor that the investigator uses more than one method of the research uses more than more than one source for purpose of the research (Maylor & Blackmon, 2005). Therefore the study has adopted mixed method approach for the purpose of this dissertation. The report has incorporated mixed method of research by using the different perspectives and approach for the results (Greenbaum, 1988). This results through the changes by improving the integrity and confidence in the conclusions drawn from the results. The research is dependent on the focus group and therefore begins with the exploratory research. This has been followed by the quantitative research of the questionnaire. Therefore the triangulation of the data by different methods of research is adopted in order to maintain the validity and the reliability of the research.

Research Approach: Case Study

Case study plan has been adopted in order to develop a deep and through understanding of the topic through a reliable source of study. The study has used the method of comparing and contrasting with similar characteristics or ...
