Global Warming: Cause and Mitigation

Introduction

Global warming is the general rise in temperature of the earth that has been occurring since the end of nineteenth century and is continuing. The mean temperature of the earth has risen by 0.8 °C and the most part of it has taken place in since the 1980s. The main cause of this rise in temperature of the earth is, according to the scientists, the increase in the greenhouse effect (Meinshausen et.al, 2009).

Discussion

Natural Climate Variability and Anthropogenic Climate Change

Anthropogenic climate change is the one that is caused by the activities of the humans. This includes the greenhouse effect and the other activities that are caused by human activities that cause a rise in temperature of the earth. Many studies done by scientists have proven that the adverse activities of human beings have increased the global warming due to an increase in the greenhouse effect (Collins, 2010).

Natural climate variability is change in climate that occurs naturally through the changes in the climatic patterns all around the world. This has been taking place for millions of years and is still continuing. The changes in climate are taking place due to the different oceanic processes that have been taking place in the world for a long time.

Is Global Warming Really Taking Place

Yes, global warming is really happening and is happening fast. There are many signs that tell us that this phenomenon is happening fast and the earth, as well as, its temperature is changing rapidly. There is evidence of global warming taking place that has been found by any scientist now.
