HAMAS

Introduction

Hamas is a group that focuses on to promote Islamic values and principles in Israel. It is basically a Sunni fundamentalist interest group with the objective of creating an Islamic Palestinian region instead of the region of Israel (Santis, 2008). It was created by Sheikh Ahmad Yassin from the Gaza Strip and started to function in the “territorial areas” in the year 1987, with the start of the first Intifada. In accord to its agreement, put forward in August 1988, Hamas recognized itself as the “Palestinian Division” of the Muslim Brotherhood Interest Group. On the other hand, in difference to the supremacy approach of the group, which calls for institution of Islamic lawful schemes in the Muslim sphere first, and just afterwards, concentrate on the issue of Palestine, Hamas forms jihad (sacred warfare) as the only way of resolving the matter of Palestine, and forms that the mandate of jihad is an individual religious obligation necessary on every Muslim.

Discussion

Ideology and Interest in Terror

Hamas' rise to authority was a great drive to forecasts for peacekeeping between Israelis and Palestinians. Other than its aggressive trace as a terrorist group, it acquires an activist Islamic ideology that openly calls for the assassination of Jews, devastating the Country of Israel and reinstating Israel with a futuristic Islamic Government. Hamas is an aggressive outcome of the Muslim Brotherhood. This is a religious group that created in Egypt and looks for wide-ranging societal, ethical, and political developments based on Islamic values. In the year 1960, its originator and religious head, Sheikh Yassin, was aggressively engaged in diplomatic Muslim Brotherhood actions in the Palestinian, together with lecturing, learning, and donations work. In 1973, he created al-Mujamma-al-Islami (Islamic Unit), an umbrella association managing Muslim Brotherhood actions in the Gaza Strip. His ideology had started to radicalized with his more candidly advocating violent behavior next to Israel (Santis, 2008).

After the occurrence of the first Palestinian intifada in December 1987, Hamas was formed as the political support for Muslim unity actions and its followers started to support aggressively the civil disobedience. Hamas is in conflict with the acknowledgment of Israel and to talk with Israel, and one of its targets is to attack any option of a political procedure. In Hamas's perspective, their main goal is to make sure the continuance of the armed effort next to Israel till Israel withdraws completely from all of the “territorial areas,” as a first stage; until its desertion, in the following phase. And therefore in 1993, and most notably in the Oslo settlements, Hamas has been one of the main terrorist fundamentals carrying out attacks next to Israel, together with suicidal attacks and mass assassinations, by means of the Izz al-Din al-Qassam task forces.
