Handgun Crime and Juvenile Delinquency

Abstract

This study intends to determine the violence in the United States with the use of hand guns or firearms. The current research is being done to evaluate the crimes concerning the firearms and violent crimes by juveniles. The study reveals that most of the murders are conducted using the hand guns where the young minority men are especially involved in the violent and delinquent activities. The United States is at the greatest risk of juvenile delinquency as compared to other countries.

The findings of the study indicate that the firearm related crimes have received the considerably increased attention in the recent years. The juveniles are found to be significantly involved in the gun related crimes more due to carrying the firearms or guns with them outside the home. The firearms and hand guns are being used in more than seventy percents of the violent activities and murders cases which has increasingly performed by the young people as compared to adult ones. The elevated violence has been observed due to the greater availability of gun which has escalated the rates of felony use of guns and murdering purposes. However, The United States Department of Juvenile Justice plays a great role in improving the deviant behaviors of young people. The juvenile justice department has introduced the numerous programs that have attempted to lower down the rate of juvenile crimes. The juvenile delinquent behaviors can be prevented by getting involved in the adolescents' early lives which can effectively intervened in preventing the problematic and deviant behaviors of the children.

Introduction

The study aims to highlight the decisive condition in the United States due to violence with the use of hand guns or firearms. The United States has been encountering the juvenile related crime since the past two decades. The study will extenuate the delinquent activities done by the juveniles or young people using the firearms. The study will also examine how United States deals with the escalated juvenile crime to maintain safe communities.

Purpose of the Study

The rationale of this study is to discuss the intense issue of the United States with the increasing rate of crime usually conducted by the young people with the intention to promote a safe environment through the preventive interventions.

The discussion section will extenuate the juvenile related crimes through reviewing the past literature on the subject as the firearm related crimes have received the considerably increased attention in the recent years.
