Summary of the article

The article starts with an introduction which discusses that, this article focuses the locution and expression “I love you” across different cultures. Through this program author had used the means of communications to make us understand readers about the locution “I love you”. This article has the strong literature review which focuses that, long and short studies do not differentiate between long-lasting and short emotions. The literature covers definition of love, intercultural studies and comparisons of cross cultures. Literature focuses nine different meanings of love by Webster. There are different categories of love which may range from the affection to the sex and, other kinds. Researchers have also differentiated between different love forms and, categories. These styles are agape, which is unconditional love, storage which is the love towards family, filia which is related to friends and, eros which is the strong and romantic love. Intercultural studies also showed research on the frequency and values related to love expressions. Love also increases when any partner is going through severe health disease. It is also found in the study, that love also becomes strong between immigrants couple when they stay long in United States. This paper contains three research questions and, methodology to find the relevant answers.

Research Methods

The main research method used in this article is quantitative with support of qualitative method and, study design is mix method design. There was the online survey by using mix method study design and, there was also a qualitative questionnaire from different followers. The questionnaire survey was put online to get the answers from various cultures. Males were less than females in this context. The age of the respondents was from 16-50. The majority of the respondents were Americans. The majority of respondent were white Americans and, Hispanic Americans were in minority. There were also different international students from different countries. Most of these students were single and, English was the primary language of the majority respondents. Chinese and Spanish respondents were in less number. The result of the article showed the quantitative survey and, respondents were asked different questions like how many times the locution “I love you” occurred in their cultures and, in different romantic and non romantic relationships.
