Introduction

The paper aims to discuss the significance of non-verbal communication in the broader perspective. Key elements of non-verbal communication have been explained in the paper as well. Moreover, the importance of face-to-face situations along with the application of non-verbal communication in different fields of life is also explained in the same paper. An individual's ability to communicate verbally as well as nonverbally is referred as the communicative competence. The paper also discusses some of the problems that arise when one directs their attention to the non-verbal elements of communication skills. In the same way as the communication, the term non-verbal used in very broadly to refer to all phenomena that are not verbal Languages such as cars, rocks, clouds or mathematical terms. The term non-verbal communication will be used here about human behavior which acts as a primary medium of communication (Hackman & Johnson, 2000). Within each culture, and even within small social groups develop people different ways to communicate information to each other. A very important way of doing this is the verbal language in spoken or written form. Besides this you can also transfer information to other people by affecting their vision, hearing, touch, smell or taste without the use of spoken or written language. These other way you can with a generic term cold nonverbal communication.

Words often form only a small part in communicating with people. It may sound incredible, but everything we say around, greatly affects our body language. If someone discloses any information, only 7% of your total exposure is associated with its own spoken language. Much more important is your facial expression (55%), tone of voice (38%) and other forms of expression associated with the body language. Nonverbal communication is therefore an integral component of social (human) communication. Accompanies the words, expresses emotions, and reveals current mental and physical state. Consciously or unconsciously pass on your body to others that what you are experiencing. Important and indeed crucial to align our language is spoken (verbal communication) with non-verbal communication (Knapp, 2002). Words are not accompanied by corresponding non-verbal expressions. To be better able to focus on what people send, you have to teach them read - perceive nonverbal expressions in the context of the situation.

Background

Some scientists share further up the non-verbal means of communication in paralinguistic and extra linguistic expression. With paralinguistic expression is meant to either the draft in the century not mediated by scripture (e.g., intonation, rhythm, and emphasis) or mean one does not colloquial behavior that supports speech (e.g. gestures to emphasize what they say or smiles that accompany polite phrases).
