Abstract

The Individuals with Disabilities Education Act is made by the government to secure the future of students with disabilities. It helps the parents of the student with disabilities to perform their role effectively in term of facilitating child. The primary motive behind the formation of Individuals with Disabilities Education Act is to provide educational services to disable students or students with special needs. This report will focus on Individualized Educational Program of Georgia. The purpose of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act is to ensure that each student with special needs is receiving the required facilities which are mandatory for them in order to become an earning asset or citizen of the state. Georgia's Individualized Educational Program must be monitored and controlled by an advisory panel which is responsible for providing policy guidance. The Individualized Educational Program of Georgia is very comprehensive as it also incorporates non academic services for students with disabilities. The students with disabilities also need other services like counseling services, transportation, athletics, health services, sponsored special interest clubs and recreational activities. Each and every public and private agency which is involved in providing educational services to students with special needs is supposed to make these services available.

The research showed that Individualized Educational Program covers disabilities like attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), learning disabilities, cognitive challenges, emotional disorders, hearing impairment, autism, visual impairment, developmental delay and speech or language impairment (Barnett et,al. 2010).
