Background of Larry Page

Larry Page, the CEO of Google, was born on March 26th 1973. He is an American computer scientist and a great internet entrepreneur. He got his bachelor's degree in engineering from the University of Michigan and he did his master's degree in computer science form the Stanford University. He started Google in 2009 with the co-founder Sergey Brin. Google was ran by the two men until 2011, when both of them unanimously hired Schmidt as the chairman and CEO of the company. However, he stepped down from the designation of CEO and became executive chairman while Larry became the Chief Executive Officer of Google on April 4th, 2011. Larry Page is ranked on number 13 on the Forbes 400 list of the 400 richest Americans with his wealth estimated to be US$23 billion (Forbes, 2013).

Leadership style and philosophy

Larry Page has spent his whole career at Google and has remained a sort of enigma, his leadership style and philosophy is becoming clearer as he has started talking about it in speeches, to his- co-workers and the Google executives. The leadership style of Larry Page, Google CEO, is introvert. The company has proactive employees and different researches in recent times have shown introverts to best leaders for the proactive employees of an organization (Goudreau,2012). Larry Page is an introvert personality and that is why he is good at listening to the ideas of his employees rather than taking much interest in the direct social settings. He is more into listening, evaluating, and implementing the creative ideas of his employees.

Strategies of his leadership he often talks about at different occasions comprises his leadership philosophy. For example, while addressing the University of Michigan's engineering graduates back in 2005, he told to talk about the future. He asked them to pay attention to their crazy ideas and cultivate the best of them. He stresses his team to believe in daring and impudent ideas.

He believes that tackling big ideas can surely change the world as such ideas attract the incredibly smart people also enable organizations to achieve something valuable, if it not included in the original goal (Brandt,2011). He also believes in chasing his dream, even if the dreams he saw at night. For example, once he told the graduates of the university that the idea of Google's search engine came to him in a dream reading downloading the complete web and keeping the links.
