Answer 1: Emotional intelligence

Emotional intelligence is basically the capability of a human to recognize assess and manage the emotions. Some psychologist has worked on it and they have suggested that emotional intelligence can be strengthened and learned but in some cases it appears to be a god gifted ability in human beings. Two researchers research a lot on the emotional intelligence since 1990 and they are Peter Salovey and John D. Mayer. According to them the emotional intelligence is a sub domain of the social intelligence, they further elaborated that it is the capability of a human being to recognize his own and others feelings and emotions. This ability help a person to guide and help the people understand. The emotional intelligence has now become one of the most important characteristics of the leader. If a person has emotional intelligence he or she could have been a good leader because they can understand and guide their teams.

Emotional intelligence can determine the response of the leader to his team and how the team feels about the leader Kendra Cherry (n.d). The effect of the emotional intelligence may reflect in the job performance of an employee. The performance of an employee and the emotional situation of that employee have a strong correlation, especially in the jobs where employees have to coordinate with the customer or where employees have to express positive emotions. Empirical studies have suggested that the emotional intelligence can play an important role in those jobs where employees have to express themselves. It certainly affects the performance of the employees MacCann (2012). It is not necessary that a highly skilled, intelligent and competent person can be a good leader.
