Introduction

There are so many organizations which operate all over the world. It is a proven fact that every organization is mainly concerned with profit and revenue generation. There are also certain organizations both governmental and privately owned and for those organizations revenue generation is not everything but welfare is. Those organizations are established on the grounds of humanitarian welfare. Such organizations are known as NGOs. These NGOs are mostly funded by different organizations for the same of showing their social responsibility towards the society. This way, many organizations are considered as both, environment and society friendly. One can easily find such organizations in different parts of the world.

In every organization, whether non-profit based or profit oriented, there are certain departments and value chain activities. All these departments are stuffed with employees. These employees are headed by different managers. Managers are responsible for meeting the targets set by the company in order to gauge performance and growth. There are many managers who need to have good managerial skills. There are also certain managers who are needed to attend different workshops to increase their skills. Similarly there are also leaders in departments who help individuals to believe on their vision. These leaders are of great importance because they inspire and motivate individuals like no other (Moyles, 2006, p 6).

The concepts of leaders and managers are mostly confused by lay men. There is no rocket science involved in this difference. The concepts will be discussed in detail under the head of discussion. It is essential to understand the difference between both the terms because of many reasons. There are times when individuals confuse managers with leaders and vice versa. To eliminate such confusions it is essential to increase the understanding regarding both the terms. Even in operations department, both these terms are often used by different professionals. To avoid ambiguities and complexities it is important to understand these terms completely. It is of prime importance to understand the difference between managers and leaders. More over it is also essential to understand the importance of good leaders and good managers. There are many leaders and managers who are idolized by the individuals. This makes them their favourite. It is always nice to have good leaders and managers in the organization because of many reasons. The most important reasons are very simple and easy and that is to have faith and belief. Many organizations especially NGOs which are not supported by government are in need of individuals and staff members who want to work for the welfare of the humanity. This means that for those individuals income is secondary whereas humanitarian grounds are primary concerns.
