Introduction

The job of a leader may be aspired by many but it is not something that can be carried out by all. The job of a leader may seem all perks and benefits but it is coupled with many critical situation handling. The ups and downs re part of the job. The leaders are faced with many conflicting goals. These make the biggest dilemma for the firm. The leadership dilemma that I would like to investigate is the creativity vs. discipline (Denning, 2011).

Leadership is not just a job, it is a responsibility of carrying the entire company with you. In order to survive and excel in today's competitive business environment, it is essential that companies and business leaders keep a tap on the competitors and changing market dynamics. In view of these changes, the business leader has to make some key decisions. More and more businesses of today strive for creativity. This is particularly true companies in the technology industry. For instance, Apple is one of the biggest and well renowned technology companies in the world. The success of the company and its products is inherent in the management's commitment to creativity and innovation. In fact, it is the management's commitment to deliver the best quality and gain customer lifetime value that has led to strong customer loyalty in Apple's customers (Mehrotra, 2005).

Creativity in any organizations is desired by most leaders. This creativity becomes a problem when the employees in the organization do not discipline it. Creativity does not mean going off the board. It is the responsibility of the leader to communicate to the employees that being creative does not mean focusing all of their efforts on coming up with something out of the box.
