Abstract

The world has entered into the era of science and technology, the significance of literature has not yet vacated the position it has had since ever, to work for the communication of ideologies and perceptions; may they be political or social or environmental in nature. Literature is presumed to be the “mirror of life”, which reflects the happenings and occurrences ongoing at a place and also the general opinions, feelings and emotions of people regarding those. Literature will continue to be an important mode of expressions about various things going on in a society, and it will be widely read throughout the world, until people have feelings and sentiments. It is an outlet to one's ideas; it alters peoples' behaviors and aptitudes and converge them to modified and advanced aspects. By reading literature, one fells relaxed if in a tensile state, and their gloomy heart and mind come to be at ease. This research paper is purposed to reflect the immense importance of literature in the communication of all sorts of ideas. Furthermore, some excellent pieces of literature will be discussed as examples of the effectiveness of literature in our lives.

Introduction

The entire society we live in, the liberty we enjoy there, the development we make, the habitats we reside in and the customs, traditions and religion that we practice; all are steadily based upon the standards of their establishment. Not anything other than al persists to survive on the planet. Hence, it is merely not possible to expect too much of the significance of literature in our practical lives, that sustains the standards from ancestors to descendents as the face of the earth changes with the alterations in the governments, societies, towns and norms of different places.

About literature, it is a common perception amongst people that just akin to other forms of art; it is also a sheer act of imagination; although sufficiently delightful but quite away from practical seriousness and significance. However, this is not true, as there is nothing that can be out of truth; literature sustains the standards and morals of a society and these standards including affection, trust, responsibility, liberty, and respect are supposed to be the composite inclusions of every person's life that greatly need to sustain (Gregory, pp. 6). As an example to quote, the Greeks succeeded to be what they were just because of the fact that the preserved their standards in literature, that established their worth through the upcoming generations. And this is undoubtedly a matter of fact that the Greeks were a fabulous populace and their inclination towards literature is something to be cherished for lifetime.
