Mitigation Strategies and Solutions on water resources

Introduction

Efficient use of water resources can be defined as:

The task, process, results-using the smallest possible amount of water;

Rate relationship between the amount of water needed for a particular purpose, and the quantity of water used or supplied.

Although both of the above matter often used interchangeably, there is a difference between the efficient use of water and energy savings, which focuses on reducing water consumption. Efficiency, in turn, is to minimize losses and waste of water resources and emphasizes the importance of consumers who are a little different habits can actually help to reduce the amount of wasted water and promote efficient products in this area. Examples of effective use of water resources include repair dripping taps, the choice of a shower instead of bath, installation of water saving devices in toilet flushing, the use of dishwashers and washing machines at full load. Such practices are consistent with the definition of efficient use of water resources, because their goal is to achieve the desired outcome or level of service using the minimum necessary amount of water (Sjostedt, 2008).

According to the second Report of the United Nations on water in the world, if water consumption remains at current levels, then in 2025 two thirds of humanity will live in areas known. water stress (stress caused by deficiency of water). The growing demand for water, combined with the effects of climate change means that the real is the danger of water shortages. Currently 2.6 billion people lack access to safe drinking water. Please add to this climate change, population growth and modern lifestyles. Changes in consumption patterns and human activities cause an increase in unit demand for water. This exacerbates the competition for water resources between agriculture, industry and households.

In most countries, people have realized the growing importance of water scarcity. Efficient use of water resources, although still not a priority in government policies, more often located in the center of attention. Global organizations such as the World Water Council (World Water Council), the International Water Management Institute (International Water Management Institute) and UNESCO dealing with the promotion of effective use of water resources and water saves. Alliance for Water Efficiency, Water wise, California Urban Water Conservation Council, save water! Alliance, Eco-Union and Water Bucket are some of the NGOs which engaged in promoting or supporting the efficient use of water resources at national and regional levels. Environment Canada, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (United States Environmental Protection Agency), the UK Environment Agency (Environment Agency), Department of Environment and Water Resources (Department of the Environment and Water Resources) in Australia are examples of government institutions that are aware of the weight issues, create policies and strategies for the dissemination of knowledge on the use of water resources. U.S. Environmental Protection Agency launched the Water Sense program, which aims to improve the efficient use of water in the United States through the use of special signs on products. Some companies begin to appreciate the benefits of efficient use of water resources. Magazines such as the Water Efficiency in the United States, Water Efficient Solutions and the Water ...
