ABSTRACT

The last few years have witnessed a great impact of political reforms on the history of Egypt. The youth of the country as well as the modern population stepped forward to change the face of the country's government and give democracy in the country a whole new meaning. This paper studies the role of the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt, the impact of political reforms on the brotherhood, the current stance of the brotherhood in the country and the element of religious revival and its relation to the revolution that Egypt witness towards the end of this decade. This paper explains the effects of religiously complied governmental policies on both the goals of religious authorities and the political salience of the religious identities of religiously faithful individuals. These shifts in the political goals and religious values can help make democracy possible in a nation whose religious market is dominated by a society-wide religion. The Muslim Brotherhood has played a crucial role in the development and formation of Egypt's history since the time the country was formed. This paper studies the level of impact and relation between the brotherhood and religious revival/political reforms. The primary objectives and aim of this research is to identify the relationship between the Muslim Brotherhood and religious revival, to analyze the role of Muslim brotherhood in the revolutionary changes Egypt has witnessed in recent years, to analyze the contribution of political reforms towards the revolution, to identify the current stance of Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt and its relation to religious revival and political reforms in the country, to compare the stance of political reforms in the country with the level of religious revival in the country and to provide research that would emphasize on the role of the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt and other Muslim countries.
