Oral Care for people with Disabilities

To begin our discussion, a disability is defined as (a) a physical disability (for example, a broken arm, leg or any other physical organ of the body or (b) an internal or cognitive disability (for instance, loss of hearing, sight, smell, taste or touch). People acquainted or hooked with a disability are generally labelled inferior and rather 'weak' in terms of doing their daily routine chores and the work that has been done to them. Maintaining effective oral hygiene is most necessary at any given timeframe, but as individuals grow older, keeping a strict track of your oral hygiene become even more important. Developing a patient, yet zealous and considerate attitude towards these people is rather a tone that needs to be maintained for such patients. Those with disabilities need to be given extra cushion, since their lives are generally spent in denial and that they have been looked out upon with a 'substandard' impression.
