Introduction

The "self concept" and '"self" have received considerable attention in the psychological literature, considering that two of these constructs were conducted thousands of studies. Yet despite this wealth of studies have shown a lack of clarity due to the fact that often "self" and "self-concept" are used interchangeably. It is therefore necessary to clarify the meaning of these two concepts.

The concept of self is the constellation of elements to which a person referred to describe her/himself. It covers all the knowledge about the self, as the name, breed, what they like and dislike, beliefs, values, and physical descriptions (e.g. height and weight). For example, a person can see herself as a worker, as the friend of Mark, as a person interested in science fiction, and so on, are therefore all components of his self-concept (Ayduk, 2009).

The 'self-esteem is rather an assessment of the information contained in the concept of self, is the emotional reaction that people experience when they observe and measure different things about himself and is linked to beliefs about personal abilities, skills, social relationships, and future results.

Discussion

The concept we have of ourselves, is made ??up of many factors. For the most part, depends on the 'opinion that the people that we consider important, they have of us. In childhood, the figures that matter most are usually the mother, father and all those who raise and educate us (grandparents, teachers' .etc.). During adolescence, then, the opinions will be very important that our partners or our group gives us to express us, or the opinions that think they have about us.
