PLAGIARISM SOFTWARE

Demand, Development and Improvement of Plagiarism Software

Demand, Development and Improvement of Plagiarism Software

Introduction

The software engineers and the industry has been able to design and create a number of software in order to serve many purposes. Be it in academics, defense and military, mobile applications, medical or many other fields, software of various nature have been able to help humans to improve the quality of work done by providing efficiency and precision. However, one of the most in demand use of software remains in the fields of academics. This service by the software engineers have served the filed by creating what are now commonly known as Plagiarism software. There increasing demand has been encouraging more and more engineers to further explore the field.

Thesis Statement

There are many institutes, researchers and scholars still question the utility of the plagiarism software. However, in order to control various ethical crimes regarding the theft of ideas, concepts, texts, images or any other form of data and information, this is an essential practice nevertheless. The purpose of this paper therefore is to adapt an anti-pleaguism approach to create an effective plaeagurism detecting software.

Literature

Although, it has been since 1990 since these anti-plagiarism software have been used for avoiding, preventing and controlling various ethical dilemmas. However, by that time, the use of these software was restricted to control plagiarism in various software codes and in some research fields were by professional to control the intellectual thieves from violating any copyright issues. However, the increasingly practiced plagiarism activities in many institutes encouraged the demands and designing of these software (Blum, 2009, pp.33).

The software built for the detection of text-plagiarism detection usually implements one of the two detection approaches that includes intrinsic and external. External PDS basically compares a doubtful text with a reference compilation that is a combination of documents that are considered to be genuine. Hence, on the basis of a predecided similarity criteria and chosen document model, the task is to detect all the documents that consist of text similar to a particular level that exceeds a pre defined threshold to content in the doubtful document. On the other hand, Intrinsic PDS detect only the text that is to be evaluated however, this is done without any comparison to any external document. This purpose of this approach is to identify variations in the unique style of writing an author that indicates a potential or plagiarism.

Although, each of the two approaches has its pros and cons. However, the research paper will explain the advantages, benefits and consequences of using an External PDS system.

Proposed Work

This research paper proposes a software that uses one of the many techniques however using an External approach in plaeagurism detecting software. These techniques include, structure-metrics and attribute-counting systems, Token and string-based systems, Abstract Syntax Tree, Program Dependence Graph and many other systems are introduces and used along with algorithms like Winnowing, Greedy-String-Tiling, Running-Karp-Rabin algorithm to detect, prevent and control source code Plagiarism (Cornic, 2008, ...
