CHAPTER 1: INTRODUCTION

The chapter focused on narrating the background of the topic, research aims and objectives, research questions and hypothesis of the study, theoretical framework that is going to be applied in the research, rationale of the study and provide the significance of the research by supporting the previous research conducted earlier on the broad area of the research. The objective of this research is to investigate and examine the role of principals that have applied or cultivated effective inclusive practices within the schools.

1.1 Background

Leadership in the recent years has taken considerable importance in the field of education which is now viewed as a critical and significant variable for the success and sustainability with effective schools. Large number of researchers believes that principals role in leadership and administration of school greatly influence the school in variety of ways. They stated principal in educational settings as the instructional leader which support all the educational services within the school and importance of role of principal is significant is delivering, managing, administrating and leading the special educational programs. Principals as effective leader plays significant role in accomplishing goals and diverse needs of inclusive educational settings and practices which will not only help to meet the emerging challenges inclusive schools are facing but also lead to success for all the students, teachers, staff and school in single direction. Hence, it indicates that effective school principal and administrator plays significant role in understanding the needs of the students with relation to the diverse needs which leads to overall success of the educational programs. In addition, researchers observed that principals should be able to identify necessary programs and implement those through change process which could be supported with resources and strategies that will be associated with diverse range of students abilities in the classroom. This indicates that principal should involve and cultivate essential activities or practices widely known as the effective inclusive practices within the school to deliver the learning and education for the all the students, bring the conducive and friendly educational environment which promote the positive environment of learning in students, teachers and staff within the school, provide the same facilities, resources and right to all children to be education especially those with disabilities with other students in appropriate heterogeneous classroom in general educational classrooms and cultivate the culture that could meet the diverse educational and psychological needs of every student and which could be sustained for the longer period.
