Introduction

This paper provides three public policy issues which involve: Public Policy and Water in Florida, Childhood policy Development and Making Miami Greener. The paper also provides the problems related to the implementation of these policies and the reason as a result of which these policies were introduced as well as the present stage of the policy.

Public Policy and Water in Florida

The water policy in Florida at first only dealt with the flood control and drainage system in the southern and central Florida. From the year 1907 to 1929 there were 440 miles of canals constructed in the Everglades Drainage District in the Everglades area. In 1930, Lake Okeechobee was also built around the Hoover Dike which surrounded the communities which were associated with flood during the tropical storms and the precipitation created by them. State policy makers in this response developed policy tools which helped in quantifying the goals as well as improving the water quality. These tools include land acquisition programs, research and education programs, taxes and monetary incentives and regulations which were developed against them. Individuals, organizations and agencies also held resource by a common law approach which settled the dispute against the litigation.

The Air and Water Pollution Control Act was altered as (Chapter 403, Florida Statutes) by adding legislation realted to it, which were statuary against the water quality in Florida. Furthermore, another program which was executeed by the FDEP which addressed the water quality issues arising in the state.

In addition, TMDL program was also developed, which was associated with federal Clean Water Act which required the submission of list for the use impaired surface waters which doesnot meet the water quality standards and establish limits for the use against it.
