Role of Women in Church

INTRODUCTION

Much has been written about the divine-human nature of God, especially among Oneness Pentecostals. This paper argues that the image of God is male-female and not just genderless as some propose. This brings up a truly pressing issue facing the church today, the role of women in the church. The role of women in our world is an issue that is evolving continuously. The paper also addresses the secular and religious point of view. The research will provide arguments that women have been greater roles in the twenty first century than at any other time in history. This affects the present day church and also has effects on the future of the church.

The purpose of this paper is to explore the role of women in Church. It discusses the history and religious believes. The paper also explores different views on the women restrictions on holding a ministry. As conclusion, it will exploe the present and historical involvement of women at churches. This will help in analyzing the future of women in ministries.

DISCUSSION

WOMEN'S ROLE IN BIBLICAL HISTORY

It is of concern to set the brief foundation of the position of women from the scriptures. This is not to give a lengthy exegesis of biblical passages but to examine the role of women as established by the scriptural text. This debate has stirred great controversy since the post apostolic days began. The range of opinion spans from an egalitarian view to a view that women should not be allowed to any position at all in the church. We must depend on the validity of the scriptures to of Godly women's roles.

The belief on Adam and Eve is well established under the Church jurisdictions. The New Testament assessment validation of this is described from the following, “For Adam was first formed, then Eve. And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived was in the transgression.” From Paul's view some have said, “In the temptation incident woman showed herself to be more susceptible to temptation through deceit than was the man”. Obviously, Eve was simply trying to provide food for her husband and was “tricked” by the serpent into violating God's command not being any more susceptible to temptation than Adam. To posit that women were not good for man is to deny God's assessment of His creation and is certainly not a position that any true theologian would try to prove from the biblical text. Eve was the crowning act of God's creations of humans. Even though, Eve fell for Satan's plot, she also was given the first promise of redemption. Eve suffered, as well as Adam, for the “eating of the fruit of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil” proving that this was more than just for the punishment of women.
