Introduction

Law in a country provides legality to the people for living in a country. The law defined in the legal system of a country design different rules and regulations for different kinds of people living in a country. It provides identity to the people and their gender in the form of citizenship. Law for different kinds of groups, communities and gender is defined separately on the basis of the politics in their country. According to Koppelman (2001) in law there are so many things which are wrong and create discrimination among the people belonging from different sex. The following research report will address the merits of identity provided to the people according to the law which is also called citizenship and will highlight two cases related to LGBTI that identifies the demerits of providing to the people belonging from different gender groups. The first case address in the report will be the professional discrimination that is created due to law among the people belonging to different sex and the second case will be the societal discrimination. The merits of identification will be explained by taking the theme or reference of the Queer Theory in a country.

Merits of Identity

Sexual identification has become a legal concern in many parts of the world. Under the European Convention on Human Rights the matter of sexual identification has become a legal issue. The convention has declared that legally there are two basic rights that a person can enjoy legally. These two rights are; one the person has the right to choose the sexual activity and identity, second him or she has the right to develop relationship and family with which ever sex he or she wants. The reason why the convention provided these two rights was to set neutral standards all across the world in order to provide equal choice for the people to choose their sexual identity. There are several merits of getting proper identification for example rights, legal identification, recognition in the world, proper employment opportunities and many other advantages.

Two cases related to LGBTI

On the other hand LGBTI had identified the demerits of providing identification to the people or citizens living in a country. It leads to several cases or issues among them the two are as following:

Professional Discrimination

According to Cossman (et al., 2012) there has been a lot of legal development in the provision of sexual identity provided to the people. During the last ten years many countries have redesigned their laws regarding the sexual identity and rights given to its citizens. In many countries according to their law people belonging to the group gays and lesbians are not treated equally, they are not given jobs, they also are not provided with civil rights and have to live a life of poverty.
