The case is discussed in this research paper is about Sherman's and church of divine light. Sherman's has filed a legal case against the church of divine lights. They allege the church for brainwashing their son and giving him some other emotional distress and forcing him to stay at the church. They wanted to sue the church for the torts committed against their child. They also demanded the compensation for the medical expenses arise during the healthcare of their child.

Introduction

Mr. and Mrs. Rob Sherman want to sue the church of the divine light against the torts used by a church on their child. Sherman's wants to make legal proceedings against the church for covering the damages caused by using un-ethical practices on their child. In this case, the legal category which will be used for filling a case is tort action against the church. Tort law is category of civil law, which provides protection against the civil wrong.

Facts about Case:

According to the case details filed by the parents of Rob Jr. their son was tricked for attending the meeting held at church of divine. A year ago, one night when Rob was getting ready for returning home after attending the youth meetings. The organizer of the youth meeting at the church named, Mr. Tom Marsden start using tricks to convince the Rob for staying at the church. The things changed when Mr. Marsden start threatening Rob by saying him that if he leaves the church he will be thrown to the eternal fires of hell. And not be allowed to come back. Rob accepted reluctantly and stayed at the church. On the other day organizer, Mr. Tom asked Rob to write a letter to his parents and inform them about his plans for staying at the church, also tell them to give him some money for covering his expenses. Rob remained in church custody for around six months; once Rob parents arranged a meeting for giving him money, and they pulled rob in a car and get him back to his home. He was carefully watched for around two weeks and after two month Rob successfully came out of the brainwashing.
