Introduction

During the past years, describing the term 'celebrity' has brought considerable debate among social commentators and news. In simpler words, an individual who is well-known for his or her popularity can be termed as 'celebrity.' Their personality is developed, not by attaining great success, however by distinguishing their own character from competitors in front of the huge public (Turner, 2004, p. 5). The trend of celebrity has allured society into becoming manoeuvred and fanatical to achieve a close reach into their inexplicable livelihoods.

The Concept of Celebrity Culture

Everything needs some context for its understanding. The context is referred to the background, circumstances and conditions in which it appears and the situations that proceed it. In the contemporary society, celebrity culture has no omission. It did not emerge out of a vacuity; in fact there were circumstances, prompt incidents and profound origins. The circumstances entail propagation of media in the 1980s and the failure in confidence in conventional structure of leadership and influence that occurred in the same era. The term 'prompt' highlights certain incidents and the personalities involved such as, the shocking image of “Elizabeth Taylor” and “Richard Burton” the appearance and demise of “Diana” and mainly “Madonna” Modern celebrity culture originated with a considerable modification. It is an expansion of a combined obsession with the fame. Despite of only being instruments for advertising films, consumer products or music, the celebrities have now become a product themselves. They can be trade and sell in the common marketplace as a commodity. A layman can't buy them; however he can buy their depictions, their associated products, and their sounds. People pay for those representations in our society (Cashmore, 2006, p. 2).

The Altering Temperament of Celebrity

There has been great difference found between the celebrities of 20th and 21st century and the celebrities in formers decades. The limitations between famous and ordinary, private and public, and proper and improper have tapered or even vanished. There was a time, when we privileged prosperous personalities, inventors, politicians, and entrepreneurs whom we never anticipated to meet up. However, now we have celebrity relatives, friends, and professional associates. Since, celebrity culture has modernized and originated in the reach of the common citizen, therefore our anticipation and desires towards celebrity have modified.
