ABSTRACT

The major purpose of this dissertation was to examine the effect of social media on the University Students in UK. The main objective was to assess the importance of social media tools for the students studying in different universities in UK. There were 50 students who were selected as a sample size for the study. The survey was conducted by distributing the open ended questionnaires to 30 respondents. The interviews were also conducted by asking several questions from other remaining 20. The responses generated with the help of questionnaires and indicated that the effect of social media on the University students is quite high. Therefore, these were the major issues related to research study that was discussed in detail.

Social media is a popular trend today, especially among college students. Businesses are always looking for new ways to reach customers, especially ones readying to enter the work force. This study will examine the effect of social media on the everyday life of University Students in UK. Arguably, it was just six years ago when social media hit the mainstream. This is probably why many professionals, academics and students debate whether social media and its various elements such as blogs, social networking sites and social news sites are simply a phase that will eventually reach a peak in popularity and begin to recede.
