Introduction

The theory of mass society highlights the interdependence between the institutions that hold power and argues that the media are integrated into the sources of power and social authority. Audience theory is an initial point for most of the Media Studies tasks. In case at time of either constructing a message or analysing one, it required to consider the destination of that text that is its target audience and audience response towards that text. It is important that a media text in itself is useless and has no meaning until it is decoded and understood by audience.

Audience theories are set to provide starting point towards many Media study tasks. Audience theories are establish in essence of analysing how audience will react to mass media. Media consumers access media for several reasons like using the internet for home assignments, to create socialism with friends over face book and sype, or either play games and for many other several reasons. In 1970s media theory put forward by theorists named Katz and Blumer which categorised the implication and reason of people using media texts. Initially they argue that audiences build interaction with media for reason to be satisfied in some way. All uses internet and have various reasons of using it. This create reason to creation of User and Gratification model (which suggests that audiences used media in order to be gratified) and have several reasons for people to consume media texts including; for entertainment, for gaining information, for personal identity, for social interaction and to get rid off from their troubles.
