Introduction

War and terrorism is a topic which is in the streamline in the current situation of the world. I may be defined as, “The calculated use of violence or the threat of violence to inculcate fear; intended to coerce or to intimidate governments or societies in the pursuit of goals that are generally political, religious, or ideological” (U.S. Department of Defense). This definition explains terrorism as an act of violence which develops fear in human minds. It is a complex and sensitive subject as it involves various different aspects related to human experience, and includes different subjects such as military strategy, politics, philosophy, psychology, and history. It is said to be sensitive or emotive because the terrorist experiences or the effects of terrorism provoke certain feelings in individuals. Individuals who find terrorist acts as justified, strongly support and consider the use of violence as righteous. It is not a new phenomenon for human kind; we can find it in the history since the very early records of history. Terrorism can be defined in various aspects, there are so many different explanations to this particular phenomenon, it may be called a criminal activity or a holy duty, a strategy or just a tactic, a justified reaction to domination and an unforgivable hatred.

Terrorism is an issue on which there is a war going on all over the world between the terrorist and the organizations which consider it as a wrong act and violence. War and terrorism is an issue which I have selected for this essay and as per the given directions I have selected two theories to explain this issue which are Ethical Egoism and Kant and Respect for Persons.

Discussion

A brief overview on war and terrorism has been given in the first section of the essay, below is a description of two theories of terrorism and how they explain this using the concept that the researchers described. The theory of ethical egoism and Kant and respect for persons are used to better explain and elaborate war and terrorism as an issue.
