Introduction

This paper intends to discuss the significance of the struggles that women of Iran have been going through. For this assignment; I had to choose one country and select one important issue that relates to its domestic boundaries. Therefore; I have selected the country of Iran and its women to be discussed in this paper. Iran is assumed to be one of those countries where women have to face extreme difficulties in their daily routines. Women in Iran; before the Shah Era and when he came to power had to face extreme difficulties. The treatment of women in Iran and the underlying movements of the women of Iran for the purpose of easing their struggles and getting their voices heard remain extremely important in this regard. The separation between the manner in which men and women spend their lives in Iran and how does it relate to women and politics will remain an important aspect of this paper.

The entire history of Persia represents the Persian or women in Iran revolving around various different problems of discriminating factors. Women's rights in Iran and the struggle of Women in Iran to achieve their legal status have been changed from different political and historical eras. For instance, the Persian Constitutional Revolution; Shah's Era and Islamic Republic of Iran have witnessed different kinds of struggling eras for women. The different political and historical eras revolves around the establishment of marriage law, divorce law, education rights, and clothing and health rights of women. The purpose of this paper is to make the readers aware about the significance of women struggling for their rights in Iran. This paper will elaborate over how the women of Iran have faced different difficulties in making their presence prominent in their country.

The Constitutional Revolution of Iran

The women of Iran have essentially played an important role within the Constitutional Revolution of Iran which was observed in 1905 till 1911. This constitutional revolution became a turning point in the lives of Iranian women. The participation of women was huge in public affairs and they held extremely important positions in journalism and in schools associations which gain reputable positions from 1911 to 1924.

There are women who played an extremely important role in the revolution like Bibi Khatoon Astarabadi, Qamar-ol-Molouk Vaziri and many others. As the world moved towards twentieth century; the women of Iran came to the line of journalism and writing. The defeat of constitutionalists in 1921-25 and the consolidation of power by Reza Shah in 1925 to 1941 was the era when the journals and groups of women were destroyed (www.everydaylife.globalpost.com).

This also remained the era when different social reforms like mass education and paid employment for women were implemented. Reza Shah also emerged as a controversial political figure as he established his Kashf - e - Hijab policy. The policy suggested that women cannot wear Islamic hijab in public areas within Iran.
