These extracts are taken from 'The Second Sex', one of the popular works by Simone De Beauvoir. The French existentialist in this book has worked on the treatment of women which is recognized as the major work with regards to feminist philosophy. There are two published volumes of the book and it was researched and written in 14 months. Simone de Beauvoir has contributed greatly to the struggle for recognition of women. The Second Sex is an essay which analyzes all forms of subjugation in which women were and still are the object of his time. She answers in this passage to those who are surprised of the few female artists of genius, by defining the data of a sociological problem.

Simone De Beauvoir by this extract illustrated that a feminist cannot complain in this particular play and female characters are muted or underdeveloped to the point of blending while the problem lies that only three female characters are portrayed. The youngest daughter of Lear is depicted as honest, righteous, loyal while also having the quality of forgiving. She does not flatter over her father, as opposed by what he wants, yet she loves her father genuinely and cares for him. Another main quality remains that she does not get angry generally with the fact that her father disowns her and is not nurtured to use harsh words against her evil sisters and forgives everyone after all his evil doings. She is essentially faithful and devoted to her father and husband.

According to biblical presentation, the world is God's creation. The creation is said to have been "very good" (Genesis 1:31) in the beginning. However, very soon human beings began to disobey God's good regulations. The prototype of Sin against God is the arrogant attempt to become like God (Genesis 3). The depictions of the extracts can be critically analyzed with the genesis as posed by the bible. The problem of how sin entered the universe is a matter in which each system is hindered.
