Introduction

Community health information networks (CHINs) are defined as “inter organizational systems utilizing information technologies and telecommunications to transmit, store, and transform clinical and financial information. This information can be distributed amidst cooperative as well as competitive participants, for example payers, hospitals, alternate delivery systems, clinics, physicians, and home health agencies.
