This can be divided into two groups: -

CPU - Peripherals.

The CPU (central processing unit): It stands as the head of the computer. The place where all information is processed.

In personal computers is what is also called the microprocessor. It manages the memory, which performs the operations of the UC etc.

Characteristics: - Length of word processed: the word is the size of the information measured in bits, now the word length processed can be 8, 16, 32, 64 bits. - Ability to access memory.
