Introduction

United States of America is considered as the world power, embarked with multi technologies, modern culture, high level of education standards, excellent facilities, and all necessities that individual dreamed of in his whole life. However, none of these is reality, as currently the country is facing severe economic crises.

American government was living in dreams, that were broken in year 2005, when Hurricane Katrina caused massive destruction is several parts of the country, and highlighted the issues of poverty in the country. Further, there are certain areas of the country that is known to few individual, and of that state is called New Orleans, that was destroyed by the storm (Post, 2009).

This devastating storm drew attention of public towards the poor performance of the government, as it was not able to address the prevailing issue of poverty. The issue of poverty was there in the country, but was not considered as an important issue, whereas, organization that were making efforts to highlight the issue were hoping that this storm, might changed the perception of authorities.

However, plenty of time has passed since the devastating storm occurred, and since government has done nothing substantial to reduce the level of poverty in states of the country, in fact country has been drowned towards the worst level of economic crises that have ever occurred in the history of the country. In addition to this, speculations is being made that prevailing circumstances would lead more than 100 million people towards the line of poverty,

Many of the social organization that are operating in the country, are urging government to shift their focus and resources towards the reduction of poverty, and calling for drafting national goals for the reduction of poverty across the USA. None of these, policies, commitments, requires out of box planning or programs. The problem of poverty is deeply rooted that a single program introduced by government will not reduce the problem, until these officials are not preparing to face certain difficulties (Burtless & Smeeding, 2007).

In addition to this, there are peoples who despite of severe efforts are still struggling to survive in these conditions, as situation is out of the control, and without support, it will be difficult for them to improve their financial status and raise their level of living. Hence, it has to be seen whether our society have that sort of capability to lend support to all of these individuals.
