Discipleship Counseling

Abstract

This paper discusses the three major themes presented in the book Discipleship Counseling written by Dr. Neil T. Anderson. The Christian counseling system does not agree on the combination of the teachings of theology and psychiatric secular science. The first theme analysis draws attention to the fact that Christians are in a difficult position. It is because they do not have a wide understanding of their existence in the world and in Christianity. The analysis of the second theme of the book identifies that there should be integration of the discipleship counseling in the organizational structure. The final theme identified and analyzed in the paper discusses the hurdles that come during the restoration of counselee to God.

Summary

The book Disciple Counseling primarily discusses the problems and issues of Christians that they face in Christianity. This paper describes and analyzes the three major themes of the book. A critical analysis of these themes will help the Christians in obtaining an understanding of the discipleship issues. He says that the western naturalism and rationalism is not in balance with the reality of Bible (Anderson, 2003). The author presents the idea through an argument which says that the secular orientation of psychology does not respond to the requirements of a holistic minded Christian. The secular psychology ignores the religious reality of ...
