Ecosystem Components

Introduction

There are a number of advantages and benefits that human beings get from the goods and services of the ecosystem. For example, wetlands recharge aquifers and because of these wetlands we get protection from floods. The lakes and rivers provide us with catchable fish, bees help in pollinating our crops and the forests and beaches are there for our relaxation and recreation

Florida's largest open water estuary is Tampa Bay which is home to a large and developing urban center and is the supporter of one of the most productive natural systems in the whole world. There are a number of Florida state parks and other historical sites, which Tampa Bay is home to.

Discussion

The ecosystem in the Tampa bay is managed so that it can provide territorial wild life and valuable aquatic habitat, healthy streams, amazing setting and scenic quality to encourage recreational activities. The main objective is to reinstate the forest to a sustainable and more conducive long term process of ecosystem.

The environmental costs that it has to pay include Botany, wild life, fisheries, heritage resources, forest vegetation, soils and hydrology. The projects that are being taken place over here are for the purpose of meeting the objective of mule winter range, bald eagles and other wild species. The social, physical and biological conditions over here are because of the environmental changes that are caused directly or indirectly by the human actions. Since the year 2008, thinning of trees and fuel treatment has been witnessed over here.

There are a number of elements cycles throughout the ecosystem, water, organisms, soil and air. Most of them are said to be trace elements. The other elements, which include oxygen, carbon, sulphur, nitrogen, phosphorus and hydrogen, are all very essential components of all the biological life on earth. Carbon and oxygen together are responsible for eighty percent of the weight of human beings. And since these elements are the basic and the main components of life, it is very necessary that they are there and available for the biological processes. As compared to these elements, carbon is a bit rare in the crust of the earth, and nitrogen, although it is in huge amounts in the atmosphere; it is still in such a form that the living organisms can not really use it. The biogeochemical cycles bring and store these essential elements so that the living organisms are able to use them. All the cycles tent to take different pathways and have a number of different storage places and reservoirs where they can stay for longer or shorter periods of time. All of these biological, chemical and geological processes differ in their cycling rates.

Biogeochemical cycles have had a huge impact because of the actions of the humans. Because of the activities of the humans, the natural biogeochemical cycles accelerate because of the extraction of elements from their storage place and reservoirs and them being deposited back into the environment by the humans. For example, the humans have had a huge impact on the ...
