Introduction

The significance of motivation for the employee has now being identified by all the main companies in Pakistan. The motivation of employees has the significant affect on the overall organisational performance. For majority of the organisations, in order to achieve their objectives, it is important to keep their employees satisfied and motivated. The individual quantity and quality of performance is increased when the employees in an organisation are motivated (Goldstein, 2001, p.61). This motivation directly affects the operating functions of the organisation. Motivation of employee leads to the satisfaction of job, which plays the major role in improving the overall organisational efficiency. The existence of these aspects cannot be as significant; however, the absence of these aspects might have an adverse influence on the organisational performance. One of the key roles of the manager is to provide motivation to his or her employees (Deleon, 2006, p.401). In order to create a proper understanding of the employee motivation and its effects on the performance of the bank, the research will start with the review of literature and then theories regarding the motivation of employees that have an affect on the organisational performance.

Aims and Objectives

This research aims at analysing the significance of the motivation among employees and its effects on the performance of an organisation. For this research, we have considered the UBL bank as the targeted organisation. This research will examine several factors of the UBL bank that lead in the satisfaction of employee and in turn to the overall improvement in the performance of the bank. The main aim of this research is to analyse the working behaviour of the employees in the UBL bank. The major aim of this research is to examine that how the employees are being managed in this particular organisation and what procedures are used by this particular organisation for the purpose of motivating its employees (Hays, 2001, p.335). In addition to this, to find out what measures this organisation takes in order to attract more employees towards their organisation (Eisenberger, 1999, p.1026). The research will make use of several theories of motivation for the proper analysis of the findings of the research. The main objective of the research is to study the height of motivation of employees in United Bank Limited (UBL) Of Pakistan.

Motivated employees are a means of providing competitive advantage to an organisation. Socio-contextual features have a great effect on the motivation of employees. These socio-contextual features can include the organisational management, promoting their relatedness and competence (Deleon, 2006, p.401).
