Introduction

I believe that the use of deadly force by police is not suitable for all the situations. Less-than-lethal weapons were designed to restrain criminals without using deadly force. There are a number of cases when a police officer decided to use deadly force and it became a controversy. Cases such as the Rodney King case are what have compelled officers to push for less lethal, but incapacitating weapons.

A police officer may use such force only to get what he (or she) is authorized to do. However, while a police officer can handcuff a suspect under arrest, he still could violate the constitutional rights of the arrested if he, for example, pointed a gun at a person handcuffed and unarmed. Typically, claims of abuse of authority usually channeled through the papers involving the use of firearms or unnecessary physical aggression. However, most of the claims have no clear profile and revolve around the circumstances of the use of force, taking into account the objectives of the police and whether he was authorized to run these objections. In both state and federal law mandate, the police should not use excessive force on citizens during the execution of their duties (Shabazz, 2009). Unfortunately, the newspapers are full of history of torture, illegal arrests, confessions and coercive. While claims against excessive use of force grow the question of which is the use of necessary force him / the police officer is authorized to apply, the claim of false arrest leads to the question of what authority has an agent police. The false arrest is defined as the physical arrest someone without the legal rights to do so. We cannot be arrested solely for racial reasons, because of their gender or sexual orientation. We cannot be arrested without a warrant and without probable cause to assume that you have committed a crime.

The use of non-lethal weapons is designed to minimize the possibility of unintended victims. It cannot be completely excluded, but such cases are rare. The most typical reason is that it can lead to loss of human life in the application of non-lethal weapons which are random shots bounce, inept handling of weapons and illegal use of it, and the presence of the victim's hidden medical problems. Because different parts of the body differ in vulnerability, and people vary in physical condition, any weapon that can incapacitate will probably be able in certain circumstances to be the murder weapon. The use of plastic, rubber bullets and other "non-lethal" ammunition can cause contusions, broken ribs, concussions, loss of eyes, superficial lesions in various organs and the skin, skull damage, heart attack, kidney, liver, internal bleeding and even death. People who had been subjected to non-lethal weapons should immediately see a doctor, even in the absence of visible injury (Phillips, 2010).

One critical issue in policing that has always interested me is police corruption. Police corruption is when a police officer abuses their authority for his/her own personal gain, for example; an officer allowing drug ...
