Abstract

A sharp rise in broadband connections to the home has generated a renewed interest in VoIP among consumers as a result of improvements in service quality and providing service connections more viable, enabling VoIP calls over ordinary telephone handsets clumsy rather than PC microphone systems. Broadband connections to the Internet allows for low cost handsets to connect to any home computer network and use IP telephony to make calls to any phone number in the world through an IP phone home. The advanced management features include voicemail, individual methods set call handling through Internet, and sophisticated systems of blocking calls to traditional phone companies are not even able to offer a cost that is a fraction of the typical residential telephone bill. Cable operators can offer VoIP services over managed networks with end to end quality of service (QoS) which is significantly higher than that of Internet telephony.

Introduction

At present, the voice quality and reliability is not as good as the standard carrier-grade IP telephony services. Providers have little control over the quality of transmissions once the Internet traffic, even when Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) and H.323 is used, since voice transmissions are treated as data transmissions. Internet telephony does not offer guaranteed quality of service, operator services, emergency services or 911, and must, therefore, is considered an enhanced feature of an Internet service like Web access or e-mail instead of being relied on for primary line service (Alba, 1987).

Problem Statement

Although Internet phone calls are delivered over the Internet using a client connection speed data leaves a risk to network outages and power.

Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) retrieves server responses and handles client requests (Brown, 1995).

This technology is able to determine the end system that is used for a communication session, automatically setting the relevant parameters of the communication at the ends of the receiver and the user and then manages call transfer and call termination.

In addition, SIP allows users to initiate and receive communication from anywhere and networks are also able to identify the users wherever they are.

This technology is an alternative to H.323, which is the protocol used for transmission of IP video conferencing to VoIP so far.
