Illegal Immigrants

Introduction

The course of the research based study will focus on the topic “Illegal Immigrants”. The illegal immigrants are defined as any individual who enters in to a foreign national territory without legal and proper documentation or those who continue their living in the foreign national territory after the validity of the documents expires. These individuals are also identified as illegal aliens. The phenomenon of illegal immigration is commonly associated and referred to the people in poor countries, who strive for a better and improved quality of living standards in richer countries (Perl, Pp. 14-29). Although, the phenomenon of illegal immigration is associated to the poor people, still it is not only the poorest who migrate, but those who can afford it (a high cost of travel), and with no future real prospects of social advancements in their countries.The thesis and the main idea of the research study will persuade and explore the affects of illegal immigration especially, in context to the United States of America. With the advancement of the current economic recession the economic impact of the illegal immigration is the most significant consideration for the government authorities. The illegal immigrants accounts for both cost and benefits to the overall economy of the state. However, the cost side of the equation is not balanced and, the issue remains contentious as the burden of cost associated to the illegal immigration is not borne by the institutions and people benefitting from illegal immigrants. There are several social issues that are also associated with the illegal immigrants with security and terrorism being the predominant one.

Discussion

In recent years, there has been a sharp increase in illegal immigration, mainly due to the different levels of wealth between states in developing and developed states. The poor destitute, desperate people with no illusion and, nothing to lose from under developed countries like Mexico, Morocco, Algeria, Iraq, Somalia and other countries rush to embark on the decrepit boats and any other possible mode of travelling that carry them do not know where, what they believe to salvation. In the United States of America, illegal immigration has long been at the forefront of the political debate (Passel & Cohn, Pp. 10-67). The issue has become even more heated on the national stage. There have been arguments that these undocumented workers who come to United States of America illegally should be considered criminals and deported. The problem of illegal immigration is causing lots of difficulties for the government in tackling issues such as social health care plan. Illegal immigration has indeed become one of the key issues in the United States at the moment.
