Inter-professional Working: IPL1 Case Study Review

Question 1: Explain how common skills (e.g. communication and values attitudes and beliefs) can ensure good inter-professional practice for Larry and his wider family.

Role of communication, values, attitudes and beliefs cannot be neglected as they play an important role in defining the inter-professional practices. In order to provide all these skills basic education has to be provided. Traditionally, the education of health professionals, planning and delivery of health services have focused on individual health sciences by providing little or no importance to the coordination and collaboration. To increase access and improve efficiencies, the vision for the future delivery of services health needs to focus on teams and models of inter-professional collaboration in health, which will ensure the Canadian access to the right person at the right time and right place (Pollard & Thomas, 2010: 65). The term 'inter' refers to "occasions when two or more professions learn together, each other and each other to improve collaboration and quality of care (Unofficial translation) ". This collaboration involves trust, respect and equality underlying the relationship. Practice collaboration is described as an "inter-professional process for communication and decision making to knowledge and skills separate and shared care providers in order to exert synergistic influence on the care provided to the client or patient.

Beliefs have a crucial mediating role between the values and behaviour because they define the type of people or things that are thought to be affected by environmental problems and to what extent can do something for them. Beliefs depend on how we perceive information and context. we need information and publicity know that a problem exists, and to ascertain their likely consequences; we can see that the problem is our responsibility or just the administration, we believe there is no possibility to intervene and make a difference, due to political reasons, and so on. The change belief is the key to link the value to the behaviour.

Failure to practice inter-professional communication leads to unpleasant environment. To preserve the environment, people need to change their values ??and attitudes, particularly in rich countries. As Larry changed his living after his accident, he went to live with is son and daughter-in-law. He left his wife in the health care home because he was concerned with her health and did not want her to see living alone in pain (Leathard, 2003: 45).

This seems a typical error of attribution. Attribution errors, very common, occur when we consider that behaviours are more dependent provisions "within" stable contextual factors. E.g., suppose you just met at a party at a former lover our partner, and it behaves with us a cold and distant way. Probably would attribute their behaviour to a trait it internal to us, dislike, rivalry, one aspect of context, i.e. they had a horrible day. The available evidence suggests that most people in rich countries shows levels of environmental concerns rather high. The problem is that among the values ??and pro-environmental attitudes ...
