Mayan Myth and Vishnu Purana: The Creation Stories

Introduction

The study is related to the analysis of creation story which are based on myth. The study particularly focuses on Mayan Myth of Creation and Vishnu Purana, which are the stories based on myth. In this context, as it is known that human beings have always been the myth makers which may be true, for that reason, it is imperative and essential that the basis of these myths can be identified and known.

The Mayan Myth and Myth of Vishnu Purana are the creation stories that are difficult to believe by an ordinary man as both the myths are contradict as they presents dissimilar point of views pertaining to creation of the world and humans.

Mayan Myth

Like every nation, Maya have their own legends and stories. This includes their creation story that is in ancient times there was only the sky and the sea, but the gods were missing someone who they adored. So they decided to create creatures and built for them between sea and sky a dry place that is earth.

Initially, the gods created animals, but soon they realized that the animals they worshiped; however, they could not speak to them, for that reason, they formed a human from mud. The human could speak, but the humans only spoke incoherently. The gods tried it with people out of wood, this said, and multiplied, but the humans forgot to thank the gods.

The gods sent a flood to the wood to get rid of people. But they saved themselves on the trees. As the tide fell at last, forgot the wooden man to climb down as they live there as monkeys; one last attempt would dare the gods that they collected corn, grind it into flour and mixed it with water. Hence, they formed four people and because the corn may have different colors that include white, black or brown people with different skin colors originated (Armstrong, 16-94). With the corn people, the gods were now satisfied, because they quickly learned that they should worship the gods.

Moreover, as in the myth of the origins of other cultures, the Maya appears the original silence and darkness. Nothing exists and is the word that will give birth to the Universe. This is ensured by the parents, among which are counted and grandparents of Alba the Heart of Heaven, Ixmucane Ixpiyacoc addition and Hurakan Gucumatz.

The creation of human beings went through several tests to reach its final state.
