Peer-reviewed articles and a scholar

Introduction

In the discipline of science, the concept of peer-review refers to the collective activity of researchers, in which they gauge the work of other researchers, i.e. their “peers” in a disparaging way. These assessments could be done on a research, which has been submitted for publication in a journal or for presentation at a conference. The process of peer review covers every aspect of work of the researcher or research group that is being evaluated, in particular during the recruitment of a candidate to a position or in the evaluation of research projects by public institutions (such as the CNRS) and private (as a foundation). For journals, committees conduct the peer review, and they decide on the authenticity and quality of the report. The peer review is a fundamental principle of scientific research, which in science is called “accurate.” It is used both as regards the publication of articles in journals and for the recruitment and advancement of faculty members (Weller 2001).

Peer reviewed articles for a scholar-practioner

A peer review article is a widely acknowledged indicant of the quality of research that has been conducted. Articles that have been accepted for publishing after a thorough process of peer review comply with the expected standards of expertise of discipline without any doubt.

However, articles in a few professional and scholarly journals have gone through the process of peer-reviewed, and either an editor or board picks these articles out. Nevertheless, at times, the standards of research quality in such journals are normally equivalent to those publications and articles that have gone through the process peer-review.

Importance of a peer-reviewed article

The process of peer review in a scholarly journal ensures that there is maintenance of high-level of standards in the said journal and across the field of discipline. Academic journals and institutions normally share some common standards, like how authorized a piece of information is. In a field like criminal justice, a writer would comply with standards by contending in a persuasive manner against his antagonists, while, developing a tightly built thesis statement.

The process of peer review adds to the credibility of a research article and the author of that article. Since, an article could employ evidence that is usually unavailable to readers or intrinsic evidence; reviewers have to trust on the inspection system of the journal to determine the argument of the article is logical. Throughout the incumbency of the stage of review, peer-reviewed articles have been given more value as compared to articles, which have not gone through the process of peer review (Shatz 2004).

Then the process of peer review has the potential to amend and improve the quality of research articles in a scholarly journal in a precise manner. The panel of judges of the journal can give some suggestions to the writer of the article, which could include ideas for farther research on the topic or improvements in the research. In spite, of all benefits of process of peer review, its effectiveness ...
