Personal Development Plan

Personal Development Plan

Introduction

A personal development plan (PDP) is an agreement between you and your employer about your personal development. The worker takes charge of their own learning process; the employer supports it in the form of time and money. To write a PDP, you must, as a worker, think deeply about yourself and your future (Albert, 2008, 184). Using a PDP helps you realize your ambitions. This helps determine what you want and need to learn to do your job properly. This is a form of learning that you can apply directly through your work.

Task 1a

I have used SWOT as tool for giving a thought over my career aspiration and personal non work related ambition. The work of a person relates to the doing, having and being. It would be a mistake to work only as a source of economic satisfaction, ignoring other human needs. So that when we started a search it is best to know what we want, and what we have to offer (Maslow, 2006, 89).

A SWOT analysis includes:

Strengths: These are the positive aspects that increase our chances of achieving our goal. Are features that provide added value to our profile and give us a distinct advantage when seeking work.

Opportunities: They are related to our strengths, and are situations involving potential to achieve our goal of job placement.

Weaknesses: These are issues that need to work because they decrease our chances of finding work. The idea is to be honest with our weaknesses, accept and start working to change them, turning them into strengths.

Threats: These are external situations that hinder our goal.

I have used this tool on my self and following is the result of this tool:
