What are the barriers to participation in recovering athletes?

Introduction

This paper is a research proposal based on the barriers to participation in recovering athletes. Athletes recovering from excessive fatigue and other health-related disorders tend to show resistance in participation due to the poor state of health. Hence, the issue is of much importance in the field of alternate medicine for sports.

Rationale for the study

In this proposal, we will go about the study in a systematic manner, with the basic aim to extract correct inferences form our main project. The rationale of this research-based study is based on identifying the barriers that occur in the participatory activities of recovering adults. We will assess the conditions of the recovering adults that compel them to refrain from taking part in sports.

Research Aims

Research aims outline the objectives behind the study, the research questions that need to be evaluated during the course of the study, and the hypothesis to be tested. As mentioned earlier, we will gather first-hand information from athletes who are facing issues in participating in different kinds of sports, and we will assess what are the policies of various sports councils that address the participatory issue associated to recovery athletes.

Research Objectives

To identify and evaluate the barriers faced by sports athletes who are recovering from an ailment or excessive fatigue disorders

To assess how do the barriers impact upon the career and development of athletes

To identify how athletes perceive these barriers and ways to response against it

To recommend possible solutions in order to reduce the negative impacts of these barriers.

Research Hypotheses

The main hypothesis is that “There are many significant barriers to participation for recovering athletes.”

Our research question will first find out what are these barriers and then it will assess how to overcome these barriers using standard testing methods and other evaluative techniques.

Literature Review and Conceptual Framework

The health of an athlete is of paramount importance in the field of sports. While an athlete musters strength and courage to fight with the opponents in the toughest of sports, it is also imperative that his health is in good condition so that he may be able to participate in the sports with full force and optimism. This would make him competitive and would enhance his personal self-esteem. Studies have shown that a healthy state of mind and body results in an enhanced team-spirit, and reinforces the athletic behaviors (Stiglitz, 2002, 163-182).

Research Design and Methodology

Research Methods

This study will make use of both primary (field) and secondary (desk) research methods for collecting data on the dissertation theme. Primary data will help us in gaining a hands-on experience about the topic and its implications from existing sources. On the other hand, a review of secondary data is also elementary in complementing our field work and establishing an in-depth understanding about the issues involved. Secondary data will incorporate the information that was initially gathered for some other purpose but will indirectly provide some ...
