Introduction

Delamere Pottery Limited was incorporated in the 1997 after the acquisition of TG Delmere & Company Limited. The new management is divided as Senior Management, Middle Management and Blue Collar Workers. During the 1990's the management of this company decided to pursue the re-evaluation of the company as per the changing demands of the customers and competitive business conditions (Christopher 2000, pp. 206). The purpose of this assignment is to crucially evaluate the adopted strategies by the Delamere Pottery Limited in the comprehensive manner.

Evaluation of Business Strategy

The case study shows that the management of the Delamere Pottery Limited adopted the business strategies which have covered the wide range of issues ranging from resource planning to the communication of business objectives to the relevant employee. The purpose of such strategies was to advance the existing process and situation of the company. The applications of the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) in the company help the company to gain more access to the customer information from variety of business sources (Christopher 2000, pp. 206).

Similarly, ERP also helped Delamere Pottery Limited to manage the Supply Chain functions in more effective manner. More and more businesses in today's competitive world are dealing with complex processes of running their business which includes difficult procedures and complex mechanisms. This has led many businesses to assess the significance of implementing an Enterprise Resource planning system in their organizations. The wider scale of operation poses various difficulties for large companies to manage their operations more efficiently and effectively which involves maximum usage of available resources and minimum chances of wastage and burden of unnecessary costs. Further, company is operating in very competitive market where wastages and increasing cost threaten its position as market leader (Halgren 2009, pp. 976).

It requires a lot of analytical techniques and efforts to gather an effective pool of workers, each suited to their respective job descriptions. In this way, rewarding the good employees and training the least effective ones carry much importance in the overall performance of the employees. A good organizational culture is dependent upon the quality of its work force. This is the reason why players in the global world of business, emphasize upon training and nurturing their employees in any way possible. This would not only lead in their satisfaction with their jobs, but will also prove to be effective for the environment in which they work.

Understanding the market and developing the appropriate supply chain at the Delamere Pottery Limited increases the stability at the same time it decreases risk and associated costs. Increasingly business is looking for “leaner” efficiencies outside of the expected manufacturing environment.
