In recent years the public has turned a much-needed attention to the differences in health care access and utilization among ethnic minority of American families and white American families. Economically disadvantaged families ? ethnic minorities ? as a rule ? lack of maintenance of good health and seek medical help only in the course of medical crisis or after the disease has progressed (Canino and Spurlock ? 2000Go).

It is clear that new approaches to health care ? disease prevention and health promotion among ethnic minorities in the United States are needed. Approaches based on the ecological conceptual model (McLeroy ? Bibeau ? Steckler ? and Glanz ? 1988Go) seems most appropriate ? since this is the basis of considering the five levels of impact on health behavior ? all of which are particularly important for understanding and change behavior ? the health of ethnic minorities .

Discussion

There is growing attention to identifying the descriptive characteristics of health-care approaches and interventions that are likely to better meet the psychological and physical health needs of ethnic minority children. In view of the literature of health care ? and five levels of impact on health behavior proclaimed environmental models ? these approaches ? health care should be informal ? based on empowerment ? cultural backgrounds ? as well as the disease prevention and health promotion.
