Abstract

In this study we try to explore the concept of Training Needs Analysis in a holistic context. The main focus of the research is on training needs analysis at Shams Moopen Dental Practice in relation to dental nurses and receptionists. The research also analyzes many aspects of training needs and tries to gauge its effect on Shams Moopen Dental Practice. Comparison is being made between the staff that has been trained and the staff that has not been trained. Finally the research describes various factors which are responsible for the trainings needs at Shams Moopen and tries to describe the overall effect when the training need is assessed and then applied. The data for the research is gathered through questionnaire method and then analysed through SPSS (version 16.0) and the descriptive analyses is performed. The measures were central tendency of descriptive analysis. From the data collected, it was found that those who were trained performed better than those who were not given the training. It was also found that the training need exists at Shams Moopen Dental Practice for both, dental nurse and receptionist. Some of the nurses and receptionists need job related tasks training as they are having problem while performing them.

It is well recognized that the outputs of informal and formal training activities are considerably enhanced by assessing the needs and the level of skills and knowledge of potential participants before implementing the training.
