Abstract

Effective and efficient systems are constructed and further combined to yield maximum output in minimum time. This practice is widely common high technology organizations. It facilitates in product development at different levels and various multi cultural, multi site, multi technical and complex projects. This study intends to provide a clear process that is appropriate for evaluating the effectiveness of communication through high technology products and systems. For this purpose, two companies are selected from rubber manufacturing industry. One is Polymax UK and it plans to enhance sales. The other is Ajanta Auto Industries India (Polymax India) and it determines to improve the manufacturing process. These goals are to be accomplished through implementing this study of combining systems and improving communications.

Chapter 1: Introduction

This chapter intends to set out the foundation of the research project. It examines information and some facts about the selected companies. It also analyses effective communication through product and system development briefly.

In the website of the “Polymax UK”, http://www.polymax.co.uk/ (consulted on 28 Aril 2013), it is stated that since 1970, Polymax Ltd has proved as a leading manufacturer and distributer of rubber products and it belongs to an international group. The company has sustained as one of the largest and standard rubber products distributors in the UK. It comprises over 20,000 product lines. It has also launched its sales operation in India, in recent years. Majority of the products such as anti vibration products are also available in Indian facility. The sales head office is located in the UK. The company has other manufacturers, as well, in Europe and in Far East.

High technology business like Polymax Ltd essentially requires the process of long lasting product development. Vaananen, et.al (2012) suggested that along with incorporation of systems, some complex products also need efforts of personnel. This aspect of product development represents multi cultural view. Furthermore, a number of projects involve individuals from different backgrounds and this characteristic is known as multi technical factor of product development. These factors may also combine when amalgamating systems of two companies of the similar product lines.

Chapter 2: Literature Review

As described by Vaananen, et.al (2012), the process of systems combination and product development can initiate following the first step of communication audit process. This process entails various multiple methods. Usually it involves interviews, surveys, organizational documentation, and seminars. Nevertheless, it is not necessary that all these methods apply in every audit process. The second step employed should be of analysis of the core product i.e. rubber and related product lines. Jiancai, et.al (2008) described that rubber mounts function as significant vibration seclusion element in vehicles. It mainly has two roles; the first is to hold the static load and the other is to offer a double moisten form, passive vibration isolator to regulate low frequency, high amplitude, vibrations induced from road, high ...
